At Nipawan I was horribly surprised and not too impressed to find the river had simply stopped at this dam. There was no indication of where to go to get around the dam. I eventually discovered that I could have got a ride from Sask Power to portage around the dam. Instead, I had to drag the fully loaded kayak about 600 meters overland to get her back onto the river. I managed to invent new swear words while struggling through heat and bugs to find water again.
