Well, hooked up with my "Buddy", James and his family for a ski trip.
We are a group of novices, so nothing to exciting.   Will definitely be getting back out there though.

got some pics, but the day was a bit of a washout with clouds and snow.

Edit:

I've re-done this trip today , and this time the trail was freshly groomed, which answers one of my questions.  Last time out it did not seem groomed. This time, no question.

One hot tip: If you offer to carry a backpack (maybe in the hopes of getting a free lunch), when you pick it up and it seems really heavy for a 2 hour ski trip.  Instead of wondering "what the heck is in here", it maybe worth taking a look.   Today I ended up carrying about 45 pounds worth of school books on the trail... thinking "man these guys must really like water".  Only at lunch stop, realizing that I'd brought an unnecessary back pack.
