Note that the map included in this report is incorrect, it would seem the trail has moved, so that it crosses the river at the start of the upper canyon, and runs on the West side of the stream.
Another error on the map is the stream itself, it does not flow (above ground) in the course shown, but flows over the cliff on the East side of the canyone.
